Mr. Nadeem Mirbhar has been working with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Pakistan as Natural Resource Management Coordinator, based at Country Office, Karachi. Mr. Mirbahar is a grass root level worker. Before joining IUCN he has also worked with international organizations; EU-UNDP, Supreme Master Ching Hai Int, WWF and local NGOs, consulting firms and government departments. Most recently he has been involved with District Governments, National Park Authorities, Wildlife, Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry Departments and Urban Forestry and Horticulture departments, Private sector and civil society groups. He is actively involved in one of the IUCN’s expert Commission on Ecosystem Management as a member since 2007.
Mr. Mirbahar by training is an Ecologist; he has more than 14+ years’ experience in planning and managing all phases of multidisciplinary projects, he has implemented number of projects directly and as a team in different parts of country. This included preparation and review of proposals, technical documents and plans; assessed budgets and administered contracts; monitored projects & field activities, baseline surveys, resolved project related issues and managed liaison with stakeholders.
His current portfolio includes IWRM Projects, Work in Hingol National Park, alternative energy projects, community incentive, Biodiversity conservation, alternative livelihood, forestation plan for Karachi urban area, salt tolerant fodder crops and sand dunes stabilization to combat desertification while improving natural resources and livelihood resources of coastal communities. He is member of IUCN’s one of expert Commission on Ecosystem Management since 2007
Mr. Mirbahar’s key areas of interest include ecology, ecosystem management, forestry, range-lands, IWRM, biodiversity conservation, community development, disaster risk management, climate change, research and development, species, wildlife, environmental biology, marine and coastal, relief & rescue, food & livelihood security, water and sanitation, and poverty alleviation.
Mr. Mirbahar holds a Masters degree in Environmental Biology and Sociology and a Post Graduate Diploma from School of Environment, Resources and Development, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
Besides this he has received various professional training certificates in his career. Mr. Mirbahar possess strong work ethics, excellent interpersonal, teamwork and analytical skills. Proficient in English, national, local languages, GIS/GPS and MS applications
